San Antonio Trip
On Saturday Joe ([info]hattermercury) and I took a trip to San Antonio to meet up with Chris ([info]m_cubicle) and Nadine ([info]elvishtard) for the afternoon.  As a bonus, we got to meet [info]maddykins!  We ended up having lunch and then visiting The Alamo.  Joe was dissappointed in The Alamo because he felt that it was too commercialized.  He thought that instead of preserving the history, they just tore most of it down to build a Haagan Daas across the street.  I kind of have to agree with him -- it is much more tourist-trappy than other historical places I have visited.

But we did get some nice pictures:

Next stop was the Ripley's Believe It or Not and Wax Museum across the street.  They had a really cool lobby with a huge mechanical dinosaur which Joe tried to emulate.  You can also see in the second pic where some Ripley's lady got mad at Chris for trying the feed the dinosaur his hat.

We had originally planned to go inside, but discovered that it was $18.99 per person just to visit one place!!!  I couldn't believe it, so I guess they kinda do have an appropriate name. ;)
We then walked around a bit and Nadine led up to a nearby park.  And just as the boys were dreaming of swimming in the fountains, we came across a fountain that actually allowed that!  So Chris and Joe decided to dance together under the water:

Just kidding... but the picture makes it look like that might have happened. :)
They are very proud of themselves:

Nadine and Maddy also decided to get wet, so I was left as the only dry person.  In my defense, I don't think I was being lame... you see, I was wearing non-waterproof mascara AND I had a lot of hairspray left in my hair from a Giselle party I did the evening before.  Most girls know that slightly wet hair + lots of residual hairspray = sticky mess!  And I also didn't want to sit in wet jeans the entire drive home.  Had these circumstances not been in play, I totally would have participated!  Here are more pics of the fun I missed out on:

Joe was super psyched to get so close to a squirrel:

Then he decided to take a pic of us walking, and a second pic after we had stopped posing (except for Nadine).  I think you can tell which is which. :)

Finally, we saw a two guys and a girl practing parkour on the playground.  One of the guys was really good!  You can see him in the pic.  Maddy went up to talk with them and they were impressed that we knew what they were doing.

Joe and I had a really fun afternoon!  It was awesome to see Chris & Nadine, and we loved meeting Maddy!  We wish you guys lived closer so we could see you more often.

Now it's time to kick it into to high gear on our costumes!  It's officially less than two months now and I've got to GO GO GO!!!  In fact, I should be doing that now...

Whoooooo party! Dr Craw Dr Craw!
The water was definitely the best part...but somehow Chris looks wetter than me. I think he honestly peed his pants while running through the water....(the water will hide me, the water will hide me, the water will hide me. oh look i'm wet!)
Oh ps. maddy, nadine and chris, check this out.

This is the Alamo set from the John Wayne movie I was telling you about...it's SO much cooler, because although it's not the real thing, it's period authentic.

Very cool.... it is way better to see it out in the no where that it seems like it should be.

All historical places though seem to have the over the top tourist trap deal :/, just easy money.

Psst...its cause he did!

He still wets the bed...poor little fella...*ducks*

But yeah, the Alamo is a HUGE tourist trap -_-. Its sad that a movie set would be more historically accurate than the actual location!
